Justice of the Peace
Gisborne Justices of the Peace Association provides a free public service to witness signatures on documents, certify copies of documents (including email attachments and phone messages), take oaths, declarations, affidavits or affirmations.
There is no appointment required for the Justice of the Peace (JP) Service Desks, and it is 'first in first served' at the Library every Thursday from 9am - 11am*.
The JP will be located in our Tautoru/Orion room on the ground floor near the toilets and printers, with seating for those in queue.
We recommend that you:
- do not sign any documents beforehand,
- prepare all documents ahead of time,
- bring the original document along with the copy to be certified,
- bring photo ID with you,
- make time in your schedule, as it's a popular service and can have wait times.
A reminder that the Justice of the Peace is a volunteer public service, and is available:
> Wednesdays at TaiTech in Kaiti Mall from 10am - 12pm*
> Thursdays at HB Williams Memorial Library from 9am - 11am*
> By appointment through the Justice of the Peace Website:

*Please note that these times excludes public holidays, can exclude some holiday periods, and depends on individual JP availability as a volunteer service.”
